I have some 10m scale Vietnam era helicopters (mainly Hueys but a couple of Cobras and even a Chinook) that I am looking to put to use for Vietnam gaming.

I have some clear plastic 25mm hexagonal flying bases, but I think these might be a little small and not particularly stable.

Anybody have any good ideas about what to use for flying bases for them?

Hi Hollyhocks. I use small plastic wine/margarita glasses for low level and large champagne glasses for high level. I use them upside down as this helps them balance better.
The small ones are 7-10cm or 3 to 4 inches high.

The small wine glasses is a great idea.

Thanks rvandusen – not my idea! Here is a photo of them being used. Great for metal models. I still use plastic flight stands for plastic models.

Good idea BenMinis!

I'll keep an eye open for something suitable

#hollyhocks,
I made a base out of clay and once it hardened I made a mold of it and cast a bunch of bases out of lead. Now I have about 20 flight bases that are not top heavy when the helo's are on them. Here's a link to some pics that are on our club's photo gallery:

I've also seen others use a stack of 1.5" washers as a base. They're generally heavy enough. especially when using 10mm figs.

Also, I'd be interested in finding out where you found a 10mm Chinook ?
THAT would be most cool !
