link The claim is coming from Cuba which is interesting in itself. Makes one wonder how acute the manpower issues are for Russia (at least when it comes to those used for cannon fodder). |

The Cuban Gov't is smart enough to know that nothing good would come out of something like that. |

Hope they get there in the middle of the winter :) |

Considering the standard of living in Cuba, they may get a lot of recruits. |

They need all the help they can get. But for a number of reasons, I don't think the Cuban leadership will allow it. And I'm not sure of how effective their military is. Maybe better than the Russian ? Naah ! |

The Cubans liked to go to Africa back in the day. Maybe a change of scenery would do them well? Aside: A funny horror movie is "Juan of the Dead". |

I've seen other post in the media talking about the Russians trying to recruited from all over the world and local governments not happy with it. |

Does anyone else believe this Russian recruiting attempt seems like desperation ? |

Russia has 140 million people. It is traditionally believed that the mobilization contingent that can be called up no for special stress on the economy is 10% of the population. Accordingly, Russia has 1,400,000 potential military personnel. So far, even according to apparently stupid propaganda estimates, Russia has allegedly lost 120,000 soldiers killed and up to 180,000 wounded. Let's accept this lie as the truth. 300 thousand people. The exhaustion of the Russian potential is still very, very far away. At least in Russia, they don't exactly draft sick people into the army, as in Ukraine. Part of the military contract for foreign citizens is the granting of Russian citizenship. It is high time for Russia to acquire its own "Foreign Legion"))) |

"Russia has allegedly lost 120,000 soldiers killed and up to 180,000 wounded. Let's accept this lie as the truth." So how many have you lot lost? 5 or 6 during your 3 day special operation to regime change? Tally Ho! |

Thanks for noticing my mistake. Although it's not about mathematics, but about attentiveness ;) However, this error does not change the essence of the message. |

Next thing the Russians will try to recruit Russians and illegal aliens living in NYC … Wait … there may be an upside to that ? |

I'm sure that the russian army does not 'officially' consider that it drafts unfit recruits into the military. However, foetal alcohol syndrome has been one of russia's most significant public health problems for decades now, and Ukraine's medical authorities find themselves very busy with trying to mitigate the effects of this in russian prisoners. The effects of FAS are, of course, life-long. The Ukrainians genuinely care if these poor creatures survive, although their humanity is accompanied by the hope they might (lwu) be tradeable for Ukrainian prisoners. The caveat there is that the russians are increasingly foot-dragging over arranging prisoner swaps (though they still happen sometimes) because the effects are so one-sided: the Ukrainians (mostly) get an actual combat soldier back, whereas the russians get someone who might not even pass the 'storm-z' medical. I know a European doctor who has volunteered in Ukraine and spent almost all of their time tending russians who were desperately ill before they were even captured by the Ukrainians (and naturally were usually abandoned by their own comrades). That doctor has some terrible stories about how russians behave to each other. |

The Russians should be embarrassed, ashamed, etc. If you don't treat you own troops well, they will treat everyone else even worse. |
