Destroyed Ukrainian Challenger 2 outside of Robotyne, most likely from the 82nd Air Assault Brigade.

The pictures aren't great and there's a lot of smoke.

The barrel seems to be missing its' thermal sleeve.

The Thermal Imager box above the barrel seems to be open with a smaller cover than I remember.

The rest is hard to make out.

I'm 50/50 on whether it's a real Chally 2.

Everyone seems to think it is (a Challenger) – one UK defence commentator seemed to think it might be repairable…..I'm not so sure. Someone suggested it looks like the crew were able to bail based on hatches and turret position. And based on the behavior of the vehicle whose crew took the imagery and the general look I'd hazard immobilised and artillery'ed to death. Assuming they have any I'd expect Russian footage to drop soon.

The BBC seem to have confirmed it was a Challenger.

Good intel guys … However, it may be repairable as noted …

It is a Challenger II, crew all survived, no Dorchester armour package, hopefully the BV was ok,

Tally Ho!

One Brit milblogger says the tank took a direct hit from incoming heavy artillery, which seems perfectly plausible.

A 122mm shell dropping on deck armor would likely take out most anything.

Cheers guys.

Just been reading Beeb saying it's been confirmed as a Chally2.

Hope all the crew got out OK.

Denys Davidov seemed to think it hit a mine, the crew got out, then Russian artillery hit it.

The presence of the external fuel tanks suggests it was 'on the march'. Also a cluster of other armoured vehicles visually similar to that incident with the Bradley's earlier in the offensive – so yeah I'd reckon mine.

Hit a mine then whilst disabled hit by a suicide drone, turret still on as either the charge bins were full of cans of beer or they did their job,

Tally Ho!

No one knows how many tanks were actually destroyed and put out of action. This tank accidentally got on the video of a Ukrainian soldier…

Cuprum207 Sep 2023 9:09 p.m. PST

A video of the destruction of the Challenger tank, filmed by a Russian drone, has appeared. The tank was destroyed (possibly finished off) by the Russian ATGM "Kornet" in the frontal projection.

I think the Russian ATGM operators did not even understand at first which tank they destroyed ;-)

Article updated with the cause of destruction and a better view of the wreckage of the Challenger 2

I think the video of a Kornet hitting the C2 is too low resolution to show anything

Ukrainian soldiers posted a video showing the second Challenger tank destroyed:

As I posted already … Wait … you mean an MBT[whatever it was] was KO'd in combat!😨🤯

Regardless there is lot of stuff on the modern battlefield that will kill ya ! 😏😎

Exactly.
I saw an interview with the commander of the Kornet ATGM crew that destroyed the first Challenger. He believed that he had destroyed another Leopard until it was discovered otherwise.
