I'm no expert on this stuff, but found this to be a fascinating article. Nothing screams "war of attrition" like innovative cannibalism. link |

The huge variety of kit and kampfgruppen style TOE is going to make for some exotic wargame in the future. The problem would be finding people that won't have angst playing something that is in living modern memory. |

The "Meatball" as the troops called in the 80s, had been around a long time. |

In the absence of the previously familiar "fog of war", almost all your actions, even in your rear, take place in front of the enemy and cause an immediate reaction from him. Accordingly, it requires a lot of armored transport. Also, both sides have a huge need for mobile guns and other weapons, because. literally for any of your shots, you can expect return fire for several minutes. The best way to avoid losses is to leave your position immediately. MT-LB is a simple and cheap armored tracked truck. It is ideally suited both for transportation in the rear – under enemy fire, and as a base for mobile guns. |

Looking at the images of the vehicle, I think the following aspects help in converting it into various weapon carrier roles: - large flat area on top deck - relatively large rear crew compartment - low profile and centre of mass |
