That's a problem, 14bore. You have to interrogate people to find out whether they know anything, and half the time at least you come up empty, having squandered a whole day at the waterboard, or playing "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini." Worse in SF/Pulp, when only the daughter of the Chief Villain or the Mad Scientist knows anything. I figure either they're bait--someone always comes to rescue them--or aliens and robots use them for currency. ("I'll see your three blondes, and raise you a redhead!") Or maybe it's all prestige, and there are alien casual clothes reading "whoever dies with the most earthwomen wins!" |
