I'm looking for a ruleset that is geared towards 28mm figures AND at a tactical level where battalions or maybe regiments are the biggest units on the table. I'm not interested in recreating the large battles, instead just small sections of those larger actions. |

Chassepot and Needlegun would work. Not sure how available they are right now. They are designed for the FPW, but are easy to modify. Units are battalions for infantry, with a division a side or so about right. Hope that helps. Eric |

Field of Battle (from the Piquet family) is generic 1700 to 1900, but works very good for 1866 / 1870. |

Neil Thomas's 19th Century rules are what I use for my 28mm FPW games and they will work for 1866. Mike |

They Died for Glory is very tactical. It's designed for the FPW, but variants exist for 1866. |

We use Pickets Charge with appropriate amendments for weapons and troop types/classifications. |
