I think we have been showed solid proof on how strong the Russian military is. I believe the term is paper lion. |

Had heard from GEN(Ret) Jack Keen that 50% of the Russian military are KIA, WIA, destroyed, etc. Paper Lion is giving them too much credit. |

Just remember never underestimate your opponent. A lot of subterfuge, disinformation, backstabbing and outright mysterious deaths. |

Their ground forces are clearly of low quality and are ineffective. I think their surface fleet is pathetic. Russian subs have good reputations and I'm not convinced their air force is as bad as people claim. Modern air defenses seem to have an advantage over 4th Gen fighters. They are experts at drone warfare in contested environments. All that said, they aren't marching to the Rhine but they'd inflict a lot of pain in a war. |

Just remember never underestimate your opponent. Or overestimate him either. Many of us served during the "Cold War" and the Russians we supposed to be Hell on Wheels. We see today they are marginal at best. Smithco +1 |

I'm not so sure about the Russian submarines. During the Cold War the Soviets lost a sub roughly every year on average. |
