What say you on this video about 'insane details' in warfilms?

It's ok, more like IMDB trivia. It's nice to have it in movies but I see a lot that don't do rudimentary research (usually lower budget stuff). I'm watching more for the story than minor details.

What on earth is there desirable about nits?

Be that is it may, this video is a piece of bland, not very accurate pap with side orders of collateral cr@p. Never mind the nits, you might say it is in fact lousy.
IMO,there is plenty that is inauthentic and stagey about 'Big Red One,' 'Saving Private Ryan,' Full Metal Jacket 'We Were Soldiers Once.'

*'The Longest Day' of course gets a pass because I first saw it when I was seven, plus its star-studded cast, being shot in black and white and one of the best action sequences you will see- the attack on the Orne bridges with honourable mention for the attack on the casino Ouistreham (although it falls apart a bit once we get to the nuns).

In years gone by, you saw a film once in the cinema and then maybe a couple of years later on TV. Now of course with DVDs and streaming you can watch again and again and spot the mistakes where you once just let the experience wash over you. It is more of a challenge for the film makers now and not all rise to it. Even 'Saving Private Ryan', one of my absolute favourites, throws up errors the more you watch it. In my opinion, only 'Master and Commander' is so accurate that it bears close, repeated scrutiny though, of course I will now have to stand by to be corrected.
