Years ago I played a solo campaign that went through the Plantagenet kings where you tried to hold the kingdom as long as possible but you were eventually going to lose. If I remember right you rolled up events for each year and things like an Irish or Scottish revolt would happen and they could be minor or major etc. You had resources that you could assign to them instead of sending a major force, but if it failed then they became a worse problem. I can't remember where I had it, it might have been in Lone Warrior?? Anyone remember this? Thanks – Allen

I have memories of something similar; a series of articles with ideas for renaissance campaigns in Lone Warrior or maybe The Gauntlet. I'm not at home at the moment, but I'll have a look at the weekend if no one pins it down in the meantime.

Hmmm, not quite as you describe but I found these in The Gauntlet:

- Solo Renaissance Campaigns, Matthew Sparkes, G13 – NPC character & modifiers, sources of income and expenditure, prestige, problems & crises.

- Playing With Parliaments, Kenneth Baggaley, G11 – mechanics for negotiating with parliament for 'subsidies'.

- Randomised Renaissance, Kenneth Baggaley, G12 – random events and their impact.

Thank you guys for your efforts. I found it! It's in "Simple Campaigning" by John Graham-Leigh.

It makes a great and challenging little campaign for solo gamers. I played it with dba last time and once before using Warrior Kings where I rolled up the armies from the charts included.
