Numbers? I'm sure you mean pips, sir! |

…usually being rolled by someone else. |

Whatever the 12 year old kid at the table is rolling. They are freaking unbeatable! |

Properly weighted to roll what I need! |

+1 for all of the above responses. For me, the contrast between the die color and the pip/dot color needs to be one dark and the other light. Otherwise these old eyes have trouble! Jim |

Could be any. You must treat the chance cubes with respect and maintain a positive attitude. YMMV. |

16mm (if they're D6's) plainly colored with a strong contrast between dice color and pip/number color. D6's are allowed a symbol associated with their army in lieu of 6 pips. (On a D6, I insist on pips so they won't be confused with my DAV's.) The first duty of dice is to be clearly visible and unambiguous. |

I like numbers on them. Color depends army I am running. |

@mildbill: You can buy those in Las Vegas, I hear. You can also get your thumbs broken if you try using them at the craps table (or gaming with the people I know)! |

I prefer pips on 6-sided dice, but simple Arabic numerals for all other types. I don't like transparent dice at all. I just can't read them. No surprise then that I prefer pips/numbers to be of a color that contrasts strongly and clearly with the color of the body of the die. As I get older, I find that I like bigger dice too, if not necessarily casino-sized yet (although I do appreciate them when I'm using them at a craps table!). |

I keep some 1" dice next to some 54mm castings, just in case, but I don't actually know of a wargamer who couldn't get by on 28/30mm castings and 16mm dice. |

Firelock's dice are gorgeous, but altogether too busy to be readily usable. I got some nice dice from Poland to sub in. |

"The best dice are…" …not Las Vegas casino dice, because they have sharp corners, and are extremely flammable. |

Zephyr1, I would dearly love to know what games you play with your dice. |

I like the Tenzi dice. Good contrast between pips and die color. |

D6 with contrasting pips. I generally prefer white dice. I blame Avalon Hill and SPI. |

This sounds like a pre-poll discussion! |
| Lonesome Dove | 25 Aug 2023 1:22 p.m. PST |
Nothing with multi colored spots. I usually have to pick them up and let someone else tell me what they are. Or else they think I might be cheating, LOL! |
robert piepenbrink | 25 Aug 2023 2:48 p.m. PST |
No doubt it will be done, DeRuyter. But it won't we well done. You basically need a poll in three dimensions, if you will--size of dice, coloring of dice (translucent? multicolored? Opaque?) and numbers vs pips or symbols. Instead, we'll get all these "funny" comments, mixed with possibly four descriptions of actual dice. |

Interestingly my 'Virtual D6' worked well in our Conan game, and seemed to be faster than throwing dice!
