Today we enacted the last of Marlborough's 'big four' on the table, Malplaquet.

That is very nice. It shows what can be done with microscale. A single impertinent quibble: if you can find a way to replace those paper squares--possibly by some sort of indicator on the back edge of the stands?--your table will thank you. But it looks good already.

Thanks, but I'll ignore your impertinent quibble as I am quite happy with my paper squares :)

Great looking game. I quite like the way 6mm looks in big battles.

Looks great, Matt. I really enjoyed playing the other three of your 'Big Four' scenarios and hope I get a chance at this one too.

An indicator on the back of the stands would often be obscured by a unit behind. The paper labels are very smart and easily visible. Making the combat attributes ('A', 'H', etc) obvious from a distance is helpful.

Great AAR – thanks for posting!

Thanks all,

Ironically I recently started printing my labels slightly bigger as my aging eyesight was starting to struggle with the smaller original ones! Labels such as these are not to everyone's taste, and of course they are welcome to use whichever indicating system works for them but don't be surprised if an impertinent quibble gets an equally impertinent response :)

Nice report. Great figures and table.
Thanks for sharing.

No problem, Pushing. I've been ignored before. And if it's an eyesight problem, you're right to do so. And McKinstry's right: microscale is the way to go for big horse & musket battles.

Interestingly my 'new' style labels are only c.20% bigger (2cm square compared to 1.6cm) and seem to have excited comment here and elsewhere yet no one seemed worried about the previous labels.

It's a square ratio, Pushing. You went from 256 square millimeters to 400, so the new ones are 156% the area of the old ones. But if it's what you need to play the game, go for it.

Lol, thanks Robert for your permission to do something I was doing anyway, still not sure what the obsession with the size of my labels is all about :)
