Went to the reenactment of D-Day in Conneaut, OH along Lake Erie. On 18 AUG 2023. Very good time. Vet Services put us on a nice coach bus, feed us Panarea's and a good time was had by all. Vet Services does this every year for us. I took a some pictures. May try to post here later ?

So did anyone else here go ?

The surf was too rough to use the Landing Craft. And planned para drop from a C-47 was cancelled as the winds were too high. But the battle on the beach and behind took place regardless.

A lot of people were there. And many brought children. So at least some of our youth will learn some history.

I gave up on them years ago when it was clear history took a back seat.

Fortunately, it's only an hour away for me.

I like seeing all the real equipment, uniforms, etc. It is like being on a movie set.

Been meaning to go for a while. Haven't made it yet. Bit of a drive for me.

Went on Saturday, the 19th. They were able to use the landing craft and we got to see the actual "landing" portion of the D-Day landings. Got there at 0900 and the landings portion wasn't until 1500 so we had all day to wander around and see the various displays and the other associated re-enactments that occurred, primarily the airborne operations.

Really enjoyed all the period uniforms and confirmed for me that I actually painted my WW2 figures correctly. Almost bought a Splinter-B camo coat at one of the vendors, but decided I could probably spend that $127 USD more wisely.wink

It was about a 3 hour drive for me from the Detroit area.

I go every other year as a reenactor
