Did the French line infantry have different emblems on their black ammo pouches/cartridge boxes for the fusilers, voltigeurs, and grenadiers? I've see what looks like a round brass ball with petals on the top, which I'm assuming is for the fusilers.

I've also seen an ammo pouch with a brass horn which I'm assuming is for the Voltigeurs.

Did the grenadiers have a brass grenade or some other design on their ammo pouches?

The round brass ball with petals on top is a flaming grenade.

You'll also find cartridge boxes with a big brass capital N.

Robert, thanks. Did the fusilers have the big brass capital N? Do you know which troop types had the Imperial N?

Give me tomorrow, Robert. It's hard to tell by looking at my 6mils, and the current project is Prussians so all the French reference stuff is in the garage. Also the 1804 answer might not be right for the Bardin uniform.

If Brechtel and three reenactors don't post overnight with the chemical composition of the brass plates, I'll see what I've got in print.

Robert, thank you. No rush. I appreciate it.

FYI, I'm looking for uniform information in the 1810-1812 period.

At that time, the grenadiers had the flaming grenade and the voltigeurs the hunting horn. The fusiliers' pouches were plain. After 1812, the fusiliers started to wear a crowned ‘N'. Of course, the French Army being the French Army of the time, there were all sorts of variations, omissions and additions. Follow the first part of this and you generally can't go wrong.

From Napoleon's Infantry Handbook says there was no standard design of devices for Grenadier, Voltigeurs or Infantry as there was no Ministry decision it was up to the colonel.
All interesting to me as have no French troops to have to paint
