I'm getting inundated with emails saying that "X" subscription is being canceled or has expired. I'm glad all of these non-existent accounts are getting closed. Thank you, scammers.

I get them, trash immediately

I got a series of emails warning that my Netflix account had been compromised. I might have been concerned, if I'd ever had one.

I keep getting emails saying my LifeLock purchase will be deducted. The internet is good. The internet is bad.

Exeter – same for me. Apparently my Netflix account is in jeopardy.

It's a numbers game for scammers. People do fall victim for even the most obvious of scams. Often times they are vulnerable for whatever reason or another (lonely, old, depressed, not paying attention, etc).

My job places me in a position where I speak to many of these victims and they come from all walks of life. Incredibly sad.

Last summer, I got an email saying my order was stuck in customs. I'd just placed an order with a company in the UK, but it seemed way too early for it to have made it to customs in either the UK or the US. Still, it seemed reasonable to ask the company if they had shipped my order yet. They had not yet shipped it.

It sounds like you all need better spam detection. All this stuff just goes straight into my spam folder.

Gmail, FTW. Their Spam filter is far and away the finest on the planet. Nothing is in the same league.

Not sure it's a scam, but on a quest to reread the old Smoothbore Journal signed up for edu academy pdfs, now have to beat away a few Are you X the one mentioned in this chemistry or medical pdf?
Did get 1 excellent full pdf on the 2 British sieges in the Peninsula Campaign

A few years ago, I did get one email I thought was spam, and deleted it without opening it. Turns out it was legit, and was congratulating me on my new credit card from Montgomery Ward, and the billing statement arrived another month later (I, and my neighbor who'd worked for them 30 years ago, thought THAT was the scam, as the co. (we thought) had gone out of business.) Trust me, dealing with identity theft is not fun…

People do fall victim for even the most obvious of scams.

For general phishing (vice speak phishing), the most common (successful) tactic (reported) is to make them somewhat obviously fake. This gives you a target population that is more likely to succumb to a follow-on and less likely to report the theft in a timely manner, once realized.

This is what infuriates me about mail. You press the wrong button and good bye.

My email is also full of spam. I periodically cancel mailings, but new ones appear. Recently I was sent something from venmo. I immediately started reading about venmo scams and found https://moonlock.com/venmo-scams article here. I wouldn't want money to be stolen from my wallet. In short, it has become dangerous to live in our world. My friend clicked once on a link from her friend and her account was hacked on the social network. It turned out that this was written not by a friend, but by a scammer who hacked a friend.
