I bought these 20mm figures years ago as part of a pack of "U.S. Specialists" that was in the Charlie Company range from RAFM. The pack is no longer available from RAFM, and they could give me no info about the figures. Some of the figures are available from East Front Miniatures in the Platoon 20 line.

We've stumped you with these…

The first guy with hands behind his back is a drill instructor.

In Vietnam they are a bit out of place but I suspect a disciplinary barracks might see a visit from men like this one from time to time.

The kneeling guy seems to be firing a LAW rocket, useful against small bunkers with a range greater than a grenade.

Thanks! What about the other kneeling guy?

Was the Carl Gustaf M2 used by the US in Vietnam? If so, that may be the answer. But my best guess would be an early LAW.

IIRC Sweden refused to supply any [many?] Carl Gustavs for use in Vietnam.

Definitely a LAW, not a particularly well sculpted one but yes that was what the Army had then. The 90mm recailess was too big/heavy to fire in that position, it would have been fire prone.

As for painting colors you asked about on the original post, the uniform is great, pickle suits up to 82, the webbing should be green, darker then the uni, but an olive green. If faded pretty much the same color as the uniform.

All these are Platoon 20 figures.

US22 G1 firing M47 Dragon
US9 G1 kneeling firing LAW
US83 Drill Sergeant in Campaign Hat.

If I recall correctly this last one was in response to a large demand for a Col. Bill Kilgore look-alike figure.

At the time they were concerned if they made it too close looking to the iconic Apocalypse Now character they may run into legal troubles so this is what they came up with.

The "other kneeling guy" seems to be firing a gun…
