Earlier this year I was very happy to spend a glorious few days in the great Australian city of Brisbane, enjoying the weather, food and history of this most interesting of city's.

As part of our exploring the south bank of the Brisbane River, I by chance came across the Queensland Maritime Museum, which is home to a marvellous collection of items relating to Australia's and Queensland's history with the sea, and holds a real gem, with the only remaining example of a WWII River Class Frigate on display in the old South Brisbane Dry Dock.

Excellent tour! Really well documented. I served on a small WWII era USN ship during Vietnam, so I really enjoyed the inside-out examination of HMAS Diamantina. During my few Navy years I always enjoyed mixing with Aussie sailors. A really swell bunch.

I'm glad you enjoyed my adoptive home town – I quite like it here, too. I've lived in Brisbane since 1981 but have never visited the Naval Museum, which is a bit sad. Your post has definitely inspired me to take a look. Thanks for all your 'value add' information.
