Im just wondering what "other epic game" has "turned tale and run"?

Is that something about Epic 40k, Warhammer or some other companies game or even a Mantic game??

He has me interested.

Perhaps Beyond the gates of Antares?

And he called it epic. And some of its figures are now in Firefight.

Perhaps I answered my own question?

Perhaps a better question is why I didn't post this on the 28mm sci-fi board???

Maybe it will find its way there via a kind editor.

Since Mantic copies classic GW, I think they were working on Epic and then when GW announced their epic reboot it likely was going to compete for hobby dollars.

Thanks.

Sounds very cool.

They should forge ahead though, as new Epic will call for cheaper proxies.

I guess I was thinking Ronnie meant another game running away, as opposed to running forward again.

Hope it doesn't go cg only. They could be some cool models to get, and they already made a logo for the boxes. It would be a low blow to most people.

They don't give a made to order option. That would be a better idea, so people can actually but something they can use.

Also if they do go cg only, then it's just rolling out red carpet on the ground they are giving to GW. Most people won't buy the filed and it limits use for GW proxies.

Besides, as a tiny scale print lines could be an issue also. Limiting appeal further.

But enough on that.

Its an interesting behind the scenes look at things. But I'm not sure Mantic publicly loosing its nerve is great pr.

It may have been smarter to push with the plastics for a low price, but no rules. At least initially, then do a box set and rules later.

That way people will just see it as cheap GW proxies and not something else. I thing GW players would be more likely to buy something that's not directly competing, but can be seen as supporting Epic. But that goes for other games too.

I think if he wants to hit the GW Epic proxy market he needs to get in fast, so 3d sculpted siocast figures by october. I suspect there's existing models that can be scaled down quickly. The hard thing will be hitting the scale right. Even if you can turn around production in three months, that's missing the large window by two months. Personally, I'd go with 8mm based on the Ral Partha Battle Tech infantry. Battle Tech's having a resurgance so why not hit both markets.

I wish One Page Rules would get into this. Epic scale Grimdark Future would be fantastic.

Its interesting that they are talking about 4 figures per base, as GW are having 5.

This looks like a way of making armies cheaper by using less actual figures. Like with KOW multi basing. However, this time, you can still use them in someone else's game.
