Anyone know of suitable 18th century 15mm miniatures that could be painted up as slaves joining in a revolt either on their own or with a European army? Would have to be somewhat ragged. Mix of weapons is alright but definitely with muskets included.

It would be best if they didnt have jackets and were either bare chested or only vests. Some hats but bare heads too.

Ive thought of using Old Glory pirates but that's not optimal because too many of them have long hair.

It seems like everything available is either too African, too Arab/Eastern, too well dressed etc.

Maybe there is something I'm missing?

Maybe Russ will do a pack?

That's a tough one.

I would look at some Spanish Napoleonic guerillas, and Peter Pig's pirate range. Eureka makes a few Abyssinians with muskets. I thought Minifigs made sailors, but I don't see any.

There's a Cimarroon code in Grumpy's Buccaneers range that might suit you – link

Some Peter Pig pirates can fit the bill. You can also do head swaps with other Peter Pig heads. In 28mm some Old Glory pirates are useful as well as some Mexican peasants. Eureka has Slave Quilombo and Mamalucos in their 16th century colonial line.

Coincidentally, I am currently converting Peter Pig pirates into Maroons. But it is very slow and extensive conversion work. Hair has to be removed, and hats made for at least some figures. Hopefully, someone will make a range!

Even some of those PP pirates seem to well dressed. We really need men in ragged shirts and trousers, often bareheaded but sometimes with straw hats or bad tricornes; even wearing a coat with no shirt on underneath. Maybe even with the occasional shackle on.

Probably not a big enough market for the figures.

I have a couple of poses that suit in a job lot of Peter Pig I got years ago. I think I've seen some others by maybe Gladiator? I found a few while playing Irregular Wars. Not a common subject.

In 15mm paint conversions can do wonders. At gaming distances a lot of things work well.

QRF SAW Cuban/Filipino Rebels.

The figures in this pack were based on those from a Seminole Wars pack of rebel slaves that appears to no longer be available. The only apparent change is a lightly sculpted loop ammo belt that should be easy to scrape away or paint over.

That QRF Pack is interesting. I think that both PP and QRF might look too tiny on a table inhabited mostly by Blue Moon and Eureka figures.

@79th Pa

Probably not a big enough market for the figures.

Is it a question of "No matter what a Manufacturer sculpts, there's always another pack that needs to get made"?

Is it really a question of economics? I noticed that there are a large number of 15mm makers who make large numbers of wagons… and they're always the same wagons.

I stumbled onto this maker recently, they must make 30 wagons; the same 30 every one else makes. Is this really about sales? Or is it about the belief of where the sales are?

Unless gamers are buying thousands of wagons?
