Greetings I have only collected and gamed pre 20th century, but recently saw a 4 part documentary on Franco. I found the first the most interesting. Early tank warfare seems pretty interesting although I understand tanks were not often effectively used in the SCW. I've found a paper copy of "For whom the Dice Rolls" and am awaiting its arrival. Any suggestions on books? Thanks in advance. |

As for board games, a great way to get the feel for the war, I really enjoyed Crusade and Revolution from Compass. I also picked up Land & Freedom which looks at the issues facing the Republicans. Here are a couple how to videos; C&R: YouTube link L&F: YouTube link |

Anthony Beevors "Spanish Civil War" is a decent summary, the later edition, not the first, which is pretty dreadful. The classic book is The Spanish Civil War by Hugh Thomas, although a bit old now, it is very comprehensive. |

Thanks to you all! @14Bore and @Martin Rapier I have ordered both books (Martin I've gone for the Thomas work first). @ stephen m thank you for thinking about board games – I'd forgotten about that as a resource and will check out the youtube postings. @Major B The international Brigades are I think the reason I got hooked: what conflict generates that? I am an Australian with European parents, so my initial interest will be outside of the US and Canadian contributions. I'd love to get your views on what is available. I'm at takemebacktoelba on gmail if you had some time. Email address is a bit of a give away about my entry into the hobby… Thanks again to you all. |

I have to doubly thank you all as I have just realised there is a Spanish Civil War thread in the WWII domain! |

Hello Lets Good to see SCW interest. You might consider Beevor's SCW book on audio. That allows you to spend time painting/modelling and listening. The huge amount of leader names can get confusing though. martin |

Homage to Caledonia (terrible title) about Scots in the War – including the Duchess of Atholl – an unlikely but staunch supporter of the Republic. link |

Thanks for the recommendations. I've read a few books, but most you mentioned here are new to me. I hope I'll have time to read them, because I study too, and my studies take so much time. And I also have a creative writing class, where I sometimes need to read something and write on it, or just any book and write something I want, but based on the requirements. When I can't find ideas, I use the help of https://edubirdie.com, and it's the best option for me. But if I choose something that is interesting to me, then I have no problems. I hope the next time I'll be able to choose one of these books. |

Thank you so much for sharing this referral link. I have been searching for a reliable writer who can help me provide quality content. I will definitely try this. Basically, I want to be a writer. I have an interest in music as well. Does music help to write quality content? T |
