Are 1/72 plastics acceptable or not? |

Only one in 20mm I am aware of is the colonial line with Jacklex Minis (look under nation and then equipment) link Other options HAT miniatures in 1/72 (a bit larger) or Lancashire miniatures in 18mm |

The only other option I see – I missed earlier is the more generic gun that irregular does for their 20mm mutiny and Colonial ranges

The 20 mm from Irregular Miniature, Jacklex Miniatures or Lancashire miniatures are too small. I do not know the size of the 20 mm from Newline Designs but like the manufacturers mentioned above, there is not the piece of artillery that I want. The guns offered by Tumbling Dice are for the Crimean War, so they are too old. |

Sometimes you have to make your own, or make do, especially in an odd scale. |

This is so because since 1864, the Prussian breech-loading system had been in use in the Württemberg artillery. The steel guns were all ordered from Krupp. So the old Württemberg carriages of the English model were adapted, so that the new Prussian breech loading could be used. English model carriages??? This is the carriage of the Armstrong 12 pr Rifled Breech Loader (RBL) british gun? Or guns carriages used in Crimea and during the sepoy revolt? Thanks |

This 1/72 Witworth cannon is what I would use: link The confederacy bought the cannons from Britian, so the carriage should be correct. |

Thanks Nick, but the 6& 12 pdrs Whitworth Rifled guns never equipped the British artillery! Even though this piece of artillery had been considered for adoption by the British Government's Board of Ordnance. However, Whitworth's guns ultimately lost out to the aforementioned Armstrong gun. During the American Civil War, the weapon was exported and saw service in the Union and Confederate armies, although it was considered a rarity. I think more and more strongly that the Württembergers used the British gun carriages used in Crimea and during the sepoy revolt because before 1864 the Württembergers did not use rifled guns. |
