Anyone know of any or can suggest substitutes? |

I have been away from my Napoleonics for a few years. But I used Austrian drivers in double billed shakos. My Wurttemburgers are for the later Napoleonic era. Tom |

I forgot to mention that if you are doing an earlier Napoleonic period with a different type of headgear you could swap heads. Of course that assumes some figures have that type of headgear. I am too lazy to look at my sources for that. Head swapping on 15s is not too bad. I twist off the heads. That leaves a flat surface which cutting rarely does. I use pliers with some sort of protection lilke sheet lead or a piece of cloth. The easy way to attach it is with a drop of super glue to hold it in place. Then to give it more strength, mix up some five minute epoxy. Using a fine pointed toothpick, put a thin bead of epoxy around the joint. You may want to shave down the point on the toothpick with a knife. I have done dozens of head this way and have not had any come off. The harder way to attach it is to drill both the neck and the head and epoxy the two parts, one at a time, with a piece of insect pin or other fine rod. Tom |

I noticed they look a lot like the Austrian drivers but the Austrians are sort of famous for only using 4 horses. Does anyone know if Wurttemberg copied that number? The Miniature Figurines Limber specifically for Wurttemberg is interesting. Although, I think they got the limber horse riders wrong. They sell the horses oddly too in packs of 6 rear and 6 front.
Anyway, good catch. |

Yes my mistake should be shako, so Austrian in shako would be close. |

According to Hollins' Osprey on Austrian artillery, for 1813 – 14 but I think they would be true earlier too: 3pdr 2 horses 6pdr 4 horses (foot) 6pdr 6 horses (cavalry) 7pdr 3 horses (foot) 7pdr 4 horses (cavalry) 12pdr 6 horses There are a number of depictions od Austrian limber teams with 6 horses. |

I dont pretend to be an expert on the Austrian artillery train but they usually are depicted in wargaming with only 4 horse limbers. And if I have to use them for Wurttemberg, I'd have to potentially get two extra horses…or maybe not. I dont know that this is explainable but Im dealing with the limitations of Austrian limber wargaming sets, not history. But while we are here, ss there a book that covers the artillery of all nations with factoids, snigglets and data like how many horses everyone used for foot and horse artillery etc?

Without wanting to co-opt a thread about Wurttemburgers, can someone explain how a three horse team would be configured? Cheers, John |
