Troopwo asked me to post some images for him and happy to do so. I will let him add the text to tell us about his recent purchases.

This should help giving answers to questions about Vietnam Gaming in 28mm for many of us.

Bottom pictures are two Gringos 40s ARVN troops with M1 Carbines in front of a Corgi Saladin.

Middle picture is left to right four Gringos 40 ARVN with M16.
Figures Five and Six are from the Baker Company ARVN range. While the height and the weapon length might be a millimeter shorter, the style, clothing, webbing and equipment make them actually go together seemlessly. Once painted they will dissappear into each other. Again in front of a 1/56 M47 tank.

The top picture, again in front of a repainteed and rebarrelled corgi Saladin are from left to right.
One and Two Gringos 40s ARVN with carbines.
Figure Five on the end being a Gringos 40 ARVN with M16.

Figures Three and Four are my conversions. I wanted the look of late war Cambodians or the Thai Unity Battalions in Laos. So they started off as 1st Corps US WW2 marines. They have the look of teenagers wearing their dads' clothes and helemts and the height is good to match. Cloth helmet covers and simple utility uniforms with hanging pants legs over the boot. They have second war cotton web belts with canteens, small ammo pouches and and slung haversacks and are often covered in spare bandoliers. I did some exacto knife surgery and replaced the Garands, Carbines and BARs with metal M16A1s from Full Metal Minitures. I am no sculptor with my bad vision and I figure that any gaps will fill in with primer. On the positive side they are the exact look that I wanted. Keep in mind the Vietnamese were more fashion concious about the skinny leg look than other groups.

Any questions, please ask.

These are just a simple photographic samples.
I have about seventy Baker Company and fifty more Gringos ARVN with M16. Enough for four platoons complete.

Another Platoon of Gringos 40s ARVN with carbines.
A platoon of Empress ARVN with M16.

My 1st Corps conversions, I am one platoon complete and waiting in the process of blackmailing Simon at Full Metal Miniatures into making more rifles for me to finish up an entire infantry company.

Yeah, I went overboard.
Then again the South Vietnamese did have over a million men under arms, so go big! And a whole lot of love for those manufacturers who look after some of these lesser known troops and accessories.

Skinny little guy, huge helmet and indeed, very slimmed overalls. Not much kit and possibly a dated weapon. Perfect for ARVN and I do agree that it took ages to see one of the largest armies in the world represented in miniature.

Do show us some painted now….TMP seems quiet right now and we need some "stimulation"
