Here is info and details on small to medium battles fought in VN. Some scenarios would be very unbalanced but interesting none the less.

Regarding the linked article. Bottom line:

NONE of the actions on the list provides enough information to prepare any VN scenario of gaming.

Regarding the validity of the article:

The author does not define "battle" or "victory." You can't claim an action is a battle or not without stating what you mean by battle. And, related to that, you can't claim a battle as won or lost if you don't define "victory."

The author essentially provides a laundry list of 112 actions where Americans were killed. He provides a SHORT paragraph summarizing the body counts and if Americans died, I guess, he lists it as a loss. He says the battle of Ia Drang was an American loss, which is not new since we're all familiar with "We Were Soldiers Once, And Young." Won or lost? Depends on your definition of victory, which he also does not define.

None of this is suitable for scenarios. The author has an axe to grind.

Thanks for the link Wolfhag. At the least it's a good list to start looking at actions and researching events.

Thanks Wolfhag: I saved the link as "Battles of the Vietnam War" (;-)). Since this article is full of links to details about the battles mentioned I find it very useful ! Now only to convince my fellow hobbyists to buy lots of Empress and Gringo40 figures ;-)))

I believe Empress are not really compatible with Gringo40. From what I read here the Empress figures are more in scale with Baker Company/West Wind and the Gringo40 are quite a bit taller and chunkier.
