Faron Bell from the West Texans chapter of LSHM recently played a game of Blucher using his magnificently painted and based 6mm figures.

A few of the West Texas guys tried our hand at Blucher on Friday (7/14). We played a 341 point meeting engagment (Battle of Mazelburg) between the French and Austrians. We managed to get in a half day's battle before we declared the game a minor French Victory.

We saw some epic events during the game, including: French Cuirassiers overrunning two Austrian Mobile HA Units, Austrian Grenadiers (Prepared) repulsing two French Cuirassier units, some nasty bombardment action, Austrian Light Cavalry defeating the Old Guard Cavalry…etc..

We imagined this at the "Grand Scale" which allows for 5000 men per Infantry Unit, 3000 for Calvary and up to 36 guns for massed batteries. That put 81,000 French & 132 guns vs. 100,000 Austrians with 156 guns.

We thought the rules were fun and fairly straightforward though we went slow to look up things as needed. All in all, a good time!

Came across this film on You tube. It has a nice depiction of Muscovites fighting Poles.

Enjoy!

Yep. Around 1:46 or so. I like the goose stepping Poles.
