Being a relatively new Kansan, I've gotten the idea to do some border raid stuff in 28mm skirmish. Just wondering what figures people are using, and rules.

Foundry has figures specific to the idea. I would think you'd go to a preferred western rule set

The Foundry ones are nice. Perry do a couple sets as well: link

Sharpe Practice and Brother Against Brother are rules that may work for this era

Company D has a good range for this.
They are much cheaper than Foundry but not as nice.

For rules, I agree with Jlundberg and suggest a set of gunfighter rules for small actions? How many figures are you thinking about per side?

Also, must see Ride with the Devil. Excellent movie and give you ideas for clothing ect.

if you're up for a day trip, Nevada Mo has a ok bushwacker museum and Mine Creek battlefield has watercolors done by a captured Union soldier that might be of interest. I have some materials about the era.

The project is in its infancy, I would imagine small to medium skirmish, FFOL may be a good option in that case. Haven't been to Nevada yet, been to Mine Creek a couple times, probably go back next month for their history fest. Ride with the Devil has been on my list for some time. Guess I'll have to pony up and rent it.

Thanks for the figure recs, I'll look at them all plus Crusader and Perry.

I showed some Dixons figures here some years ago;

The first posting also carries a link to many other suggestions I got from TMP contributors. My youngest son is one year post completing his PhD on the Guerilla War in Missouri and has his first paper accepted for publication.

So I have picked up quite a bit about it and the figures are still based and on his university office desk!
