Do you play miniature wargames with dinosaur models?

* yes
* no
* I collect the models but do not game with them
etc.

Depends of course on what you consider "dinosaur models." I have a large collection of Heritage Confederate (Union and Confederate) figures that I still use and Heritage Napoleonic figures that I don't use. Early ACW Minifigs that I use and some Ral Partha figures that I occasionally use. That's as dinosaur as I get.

Actual dinosaurs. Triceratops, Allosaurus, etc.

I bought them to do Dino hunts and Lost Worlds games. I also have files for them. I have also played in some but haven't ran my own or got everything painted up for it so far.

Thanks

john

Yes, I have done dino hunts.

Well, as a gamer I am a dinosaur, but that's different.

I did assemble dinosaurs for a dinosaur hunt game at one stage, but I have more ideas than time and energy. They may still be in the garage.

I used to, but their arms are a bit small and they keep scratching up the miniatures with their claws.

Plus, and I hate to say this, they too much and we always have to break for snacks.

I love dinosaurs and giant stompy monsters, like King Kong and Godzilla.

This get used in dinosaur games, photo set ups, from GI Joe to 60mm to Minitanks scale.

There is one of those places near me that has life size dinosaurs in concrete. I took several GI Joes inside for a photo shoot a while back.

I have a few I used for HOTTS as Behemoths and Beast stands, including Dino skeletons.

YES! My very first "miniatures game" involved battles between Marx/MPC dinosaurs vs Airfix figure sets. I used dice to determine hits/damage. Now I hav 10-15mm prehistoric models that I enjoy working on.

I had plans for adding Dinosaurs to games of Dystopian Wars under Spartan, however, their collapse and the massive reboot by Warcradle kinda made it either irrelevant or too expensive.

Still, with my 6 mm interests and a tendency to play on exotic worlds, a few dinosaur models *might* be useful as alien "parallel" fauna.

Serious Dino freak but strangely enuff…have never gamed them :/

Well, as a gamer I am a dinosaur, but that's different.

Me, too.

I have quite a few plastic dinosaurs from my own childhood, but I don't actually use them in games. I have three very cool Ral Partha dinosaurs that have appeared as native fauna in Traveller games. They're about an inch long.

I certainly misunderstood the topic. No, I don't use dinosaur figures (the animals) in any of my gaming and it would never occur to me to do so.

Chuckaroobob14 Jul 2023 9:13 a.m. PST

Got the figs, planning on Dino hunts, haven't yet.

Sargonarhes14 Jul 2023 3:32 p.m. PST

If my aliens are reptiles, am I technically a dinosaur gamer?

Personal logo piper909 Supporting Member of TMP16 Jul 2023 10:17 p.m. PST

Sure!

Apart from "Lost Worlds" pulp scenarios, I've been involved in Dinosaurs vs. Plastic Army Men battles since the very early 1980s. Dragon magazine even published a set of rules I had a hand in. And there were some ferocious GenCon games along these lines.
