You were asked – TMP link

…do people consider that if they can't find a video demonstration and/or review of a game on the internet, it indicates that the game is somehow lacking? Obviously, it might mean it's not played by numerous players, but is that a definite indicator of poor quality?

A lot of the ones I've started to watch are pretty bad….

I will search for a "watch it played" and use that in my evaluation but the lack of one is not automatically disqualifying.

Search YouTube for "Napoleonic wargames byJP", he's a guy who games General De Armee', his videos are pretty good. Visually appealing with plenty of beautifully painted figures.

Getting information by listening to someone talk has all the appeal of going back to a dial-up connection. Listening is much slower than reading.

I enjoy them immensely as I find I grok the rules better that way, but I don't view them as a requirement and some are really bad or boring or both.

A lot of Youtube content makers are not as witty and hysterical as they think they are. The presenters usually put me off.

I find rules videos as engaging, informative and entertaining as watching paint dry. Some people obviously like them though.

Most -- if not all -- of them are ponderous. I did watch a youtube video for a dice game that was extremely helpful.

I'm an auditory learner, so they can help me. Unfortunately, too many drone on, losing my interest.

I'm with the majority here. If you have the editing chops
and video skills to keep it moving, fine, else it's cinema verite tedium.

I watch Pulp Alley Adventure Theater regularly. The scenario play throughs are a good way to see the ins and outs of the system. I watch The Joy of Wargaming if the rules being used are ones I'm interested in. Jon Mollinson is an engaging host. On occasion I'll watch Fistful of Lead videos, but they tend to be too crowded to be helpful.
