Was interested in getting into either WSS or GNW. What are some recommendations for rulesets? (Perferably in print) And for that matter, what are the best figures? |

Try Khurasan for WSS and Dixon for GNW – not mutually compatible, |

Twilight of the Sun King from Pike and Shot Society. Covers WSS and GNW.. best for larger battles as basic unit is the "brigade": I use 10mm figures from Pendraken, but rules are " scale agnostic" and if you have space you could use larger scale, such as the 28mm from Ebor. |

I second Twilight of the Sun King. For 10mm Van Dyck are the best. link |

It depends on what scale you want/have the room for. Since I game exclusively in 15mm, here's what's available in that scale: Miniature Figurines (if you live in the States, the old Minifigs line – sometimes comes up on Ebay and TMP) Essex Dixon Irregular Black Hat (available from Fighting 15s.com) In essence, you can mix and match most of these. Black Hat and Essex are a bit 'squat' but still, look great en mass. Dixon are very well sculpted but a bit expensive. Irregular vary in terms of quality and usefulness of pose but are very 'workmanlike' miniatures. Miniature Figurines are one of those lines that gamers either love or hate – I love them. The castings are clean, the price is right if you order in bulk. Mixing – in an army, all mix as long as you keep the same manufacturer in the same battalion. However, you can mix Dixon with Essex, Dixon with Miniature Figurines and Black Hat with Dixon and Essex. Irregular – it depends, some of the minis are a bit bigger than others but if you're not a stickler for that kind of stuff, then mix away! |

For 28mm, try Warfare Miniatures/League of Augsburg: warfareminiaturesusa.com League of Augsburg ..or Ebor Miniatures: eborminiatures.com For rules I'm using Beneath the Lily Banners (3rd Edition – War of the Three Kings) which has a supplement for the GNW (With Talon and Claw). The rules are available from either Warfare or League of Augsburg but only in pdf for the 3rd Edition of BtLB. A Youtube video of the rules used for the Battle of Aughrim: BtLB Game – Aughrim |

Mine are all Front Rank. Had them painted up probably 20+ years ago. I think they are the samples on Fernando's website currently, as I contracted them out to them. Very nice sculpts. I did the flags. Set won the award at MillCon way back. link I would considering my entire collection if there is interest. |

Hi alternative is to go 1/72nd and use the excellent Strelets range which has a very good coverage and will not set you back as much to get started. See link for details on the various sets We ve used a WSS variant of Honours Of War rules (Osprey Blue Books) |

Another vote for Front Rank if you are doing 28s. |
