Just that.

Small, medium, large.

I do wonder if cracks aren't beginning to show.

Flamer marines?

Perhaps bolter marines aren't selling like they used to? Not surprising as they have been in every boxed game??

I would have still preferred IG with Tyranids. I was going to say it would be more Starship troopers, but I guess I mean, more Starship troopers films.

The same with necrons, that would have looked more Terminator.

Great ideas to get non GW people in, but I think GW are trying to get away from showing what they have ripped off.

That said, this latest offering looks very Starship troopers novels like.

Just needs some Eldar (or is that Tau?) to come shake things up.

Honestly though, marines have too much of a judge meets Storm trooper vibe. Perhaps that's how GW are ok with the offering?

I guess next time around, as Tyranids rain down tiny critters, from what I remember reading somewhere, it will be marines with umbrellas.

Hopefully sales have killed them off before then (I'm not void of empathy).

Any word on pricing? Don't they tend to offer starter sets at a good price, then bang you for all of the add-ons?

I may start scouring Craigslist for people dumping their now-obsolete Warhammer stuff. I've gotten some good stuff for Traveller that way.

For D&D, too, for that matter.

Huh. I had no idea:

They aren't on the site yet, so no prices.

The old Command Edition was $185 USD so the new "big box" might be up to 195.

The box is two full Combat Patrols that are 160 each and the terrain is basically Battlezone Fronteris so there is $405 USD of "value" in that box.

If GW made chess.

The mid sized one is $250 USD, otherwise I dunno. Cheaper than the chess. 😁

Seriously though, they did make game boards back in the day (70s) so chess may have been among them?

I'm not a fantasy/sci-fi gamer.
However, I love the appeal that GW generates amongst its fans.

So in spite of the nay-sayers, the whiners & the carping critics – way to go, GW!

They made solitaire sets out of wooden bread chopping boards.

They did sell chess sets as well at the original stores. Chess was quite a big thing at early Games Days.

And its also mentioned at the start of many? if their (and others?) rule books. When explaining how game turns work like chess.

"However, I love the appeal that GW generates amongst its fans."

I wouldn't call YouTube people, who obviously got free boxes when regular folk had to go without, fans"

I assume they are making money off it, so are not going to gruble about GW.

That said, some YouTubers have.

So, I'd take their enthusiasm with a grain of salt.

If GW gave me a box, I'd be pretty enthusiast too.

It would have to be a pretty dusty box though.

I have had a gander at the new sets.

I don't get it.

AOS have the core rules all the way, but now 40k only have them at the premium levels.

What's the difference between the core and basic rule books?

It sucks that people buying the smaller sets don't get the core rules (I assume).

It may help nudge some people away.
