1) Walk out of your favorite hobby store without buying a new miniature (needed or not).
2) Walk out of your favorite book store without buying a book.

Number two for me.

2, rarely see a hobby store other than craft supplies kind

1. I would find it very difficult not to buy a book if I went into a bookstore. That's why I don't go into bookstores very often !!

1. The local hobby shop stocks pretty much exclusively fantasy and SF, which scale creep makes increasingly incompatible even if I were looking for more figures--which I'm not, in any scale. Now if we were discussing my chances of leaving without additional paint of brushes…

I do both on a regular basis. Of the two I am more likely to pass on the miniature then the book.

I have more than enough of everything I will ever need when it comes to wargaming, but everytime I walk into Hobby Bunker, I walk out with something new.

Number 1 by far. Local stores carry very little of what I am interested in. Bookstores are another matter…

3) Stay home on my favorite couch, flip channels, and when I fail to marshall the gumption to leave the house to go to either place, have a nap.

Neither. I am cleaning up my workspace and learning how to use an airbrush.

I've done both. But I did score a copy of Philbrick's "In the Eye of the Hurricane" at a local thrift shop on Friday. For $1 USD!

Probably close to equal for me with a slight tilt to 1) – i have not bought a new mini for quite a while but do need to buy paint/glue/flock

+1 Rober P---brushes are like candy to me!

Funny you mention brushes, this last weekend I stopped in Hobby Lobby to pick up a new pack. Saw a pack in the hobby section (5 for $4.99 USD) then went over to the artist section and found almost the same pack on close out for $1.25 USD.
