Can't believe we're half way through the year already. Here's my hobby summary for June: link And here's a recent post on the 1/300th AFVs I've completed for the South African Border Wars Project: link All the best Andy Dr B |

Very nice Border Wars AFVs there, Andy! The bases are particularly well done as well as the vehicles. What did you use to texture your bases for these? |

Thanks very much gents, always nice when someone likes your work! The bases are 2mm MDF 20x40mm (standard Warmaster size). I skimmed Vallejo mud effect paste over them and while it was drying I pressed the vehicles in and moved them to try and get the idea of tyre tracks. I think the one i used was dark mud colour. Then I dabbed on different ochre shades and drybrushed with different sand shades. The foliage is scatter I made from old pan scourers that I dyed with different green acrylics and whizzed up in an old blender. I just pulled tiny bits off to try to give an idea of bush country. The mud paste worked well as the texture is very fine so better for the tiny scale. |
