Hello everyone,

The 9th battery of the 2nd Bavarian artillery regiment was still the only Bavarian artillery battery which in 1870 was equipped with 12 pdrs!

It was part of the artillery reserve of the 2nd Bavarian Corps.

Who can tell me what type of guns this battery was?

Does anyone have any illustrations?

Thank you.

Dear Paskal,

the regimental history of the 2nd Feldartillerie regiment, written by Speck in 1895, states at page 30 for the 9th battery:

Oktober abends 6 Uhr in Sceaux eingetroffene Batterie"

So, the battery had iron "shorter" 12 pounder canons – I don't have any image of it, but perhaps that would be of help for you.

Dear Markus,

So this battery did not participate in the fighting against the French imperial army?

Any photographic documentation or graphic illustration is welcome, thank you.

No, it didn't participate in the campaign versus the imperial French army. Just been at the blockade of Paris. And sorry I don't have seen any image or photo till now.

Greetings
