Japan emerged as a world power in 1905 after its humiliating defeat of Russia. Though allied with the Entente during the First World War, Imperial Japan shifted its allegiances after being snubbed at Versailles. Starting in the 1930s, and allied with Nazi Germany, the empire began a series of aggressive campaigns at it worked to assert itself in the Pacific region. Its actions would eventually bring it into conflict with the United States, a development that proved to be its undoing…"

Pretty neat.

Interesting possibilities for gaming, but the sad thing is the only one of those crazy ideas to make it to reality was the worst one.

Another source has described the project to build a long range bomber that need only reach the US West Coast (or bit beyond) to drop the bubonic plague and other "souped up" pathogens. These had already been successfully tested in China and, at war's end, this project was supposedly about six months from going operational.

While unknown to the Yanks, it was this and similar projects which help justify the use of nukes to end the war immediately.

The lesson being, in a war to the death, ending it at the first opportunity is the greatest necessity.
