"From For All Mankind to Space Sweepers, every day more great sci-fi adventures grace our screens both big and small. All signs point to a sci-fi renaissance filled with reluctant heroes, scrappy misfits, and snarky sentient robots. Of course, I can't forget one of the most quintessential staples of the genre: the epic space battle. Massive energy weapons firing from colossal battleships, sleek starfighters zipping past exploding support ships, and our heroes accomplishing feats of (often erroneous) physics our earth-bound minds can hardly fathom…." For myself, I find the battles in the epic series Space Battleship Yamato 2199 to be my favorite. Though not primarily made for theaters, the battles were truly cinematic in scope. Search "Yamato 2199 Rainbow Star Cluster Battle for an example. |

Although TV "Babylon 5" had several great fights with realistic maneuvering. |

Wrath of Khan. Still. It's the absolutely stately motion of the Enterprise. These are capital ships, not starfighters. |

Basically anything from "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" is epic. Even the smallest battles involve tens of thousands of warships, with classical music blaring in the background. |

Right now as far as I'm concerned Legend of the Galactic Heroes has every one beat. YouTube link |

I did like the Firefly Universe Battle, but to be honest Star Wars space battles interest me not at all |

Gundam 79 Attack on 1st Death Star (AKA Dambusters in Space) Original Battlestar Galactica when the Pegasus joined them. …hmmm. Am I a little too 70s/80s leaning? |
