… FOR MAKING TERRAIN

"You just started making your own terrain or you intend to make your first piece. Excellent! Looking at a gaming table full of your hand crafted terrain is a grand feeling indeed. But which tools should you get before you start or which tools should you get down the road when you gained some experience with this important aspect of our beloved hobby?…"

The article says "toothpick" but as inexpensive as they are I would suggest getting at least three of them.

I use the Tamiya sprue cutter. Very expensive worth every penny, don't cut anything but plastic sprue with it or you will damage it. Get the much cheaper Xuron ones for light wire and such.

Pin vice is great, I actually have five of them with the drill bits already loaded, saves a lot of time when switching between sizes.

An old toothbrush can be run though the dishwasher and come out in pretty good shape, at least it's really clean.

Clay is helpful too, the kind that never hardens, I use to to make little hands to hold models parts while the glue dries.

I like sanding sticks too, much easier to shape things than sandpaper, although I use a lot of that also.

And finally a great cutting mat to protect your desktop!

I agree with Bunkermeister, and most of the linked article.

I don't think I'll ever need a laser cutter, but then I'm not all that ambitious in my terrain-making.
