The castle walls have had a bashing over the centuries but the great hall is considered to be one of the best Norman secular (non-church) buildings in Britain.

The great hall has survived because it is one of the oldest law courts in Britain and is still used as such, once every two years. The horseshoes all over the interior are a bizarre feature but there is a reason.

Plenty of inspiration for Norman/medieval modellers.
