You were asked – TMP link Do you or would you play a game that required a piece of modern, but common technology to play? I'm not talking about using tech to supplement or do a better job, but where the use of the tech was integral to the rules. 54% said "no, I would not play a minis game that required tech" 27% said "yes, I would play a minis game that required tech" 13% said "yes, I have played a minis game that required tech" |

My old gaming group worked on a project where we would have a touch screen for combat resolution. Sherman tank, 300 yards, target Tiger I right front side visible and take into account crew training, and then determine a hit and any damage automatically. Never got to far but I think it would have been cool and sped up the games. Mike Bunkermeister Creek |

Mike " Sherman tank, 300 yards, target Tiger I right front side visible and take into account crew training, and then determine a hit and any damage automatically" What would be neat and make it workable, is if you could have a hand held device, you pointed at the situation and it fed the data to a application that then did the analysis and gave a result in seconds. Basically point and click. That would make it fast and workable for gamers. 😉 But that is probably currently not easily done, and even if possible, too expensive. Ahh but maybe AI? 🤔 Ahhh but Probably not though. I can see this small AI robot on the table, it takes in all the data, determines the results and then goes over, stomps on the Tiger and says: "YOU HAVE BEEN TERMINATED". But you lose those games, you lose the figures, real skin in the game. 🙂 |

My iphone has an app that gives you the dimensions of an object that it measures thru the camera. Yeah, can see someone developing an app for wargames ? |

I belong to the 40% of gamers who see the potential in using technology to enhance new gaming scenarios. After all, miniature wargames can evolve and thrive. I want them to be more popular and accessible to the younger generation. Technology has the potential to make the games more engaging, accessible, and dynamic, without losing the authenticity and emotions that make them so unique. |

Proably not in my lifetime. Ifyou could point a camera at the battlefiels and use your finger to point to the firer and the target and it did the rest fine it may be quicker. The faff of typing in stuff you could look up on the QR sheet seems seems to be not worth it. You know what the tanks armour is and he knows his penetration. If you are a half decent players you will know the few tactical factors as well, so roll die and be done. If you don't know the stuff then fire calculations will not be on the critical path, knowing what your tank can do and how to impement the seroius rules like command and conrol will be the issue so again the app offers nothing unless it has eneough AI to have the imput already. Even them you will have to waste time checking for armour valuse as using a tank without knowingh how it will fare against the opposition is a non starter. Even reall tankies need to know that. Now using it to ajudicate hidden movement just using a lazer to show when it appears and 3D goggles to you can track and command the hidden units, that doe offer a gerat deal, double blind with no umpire, that would be worth it. However Battlefield recognition and creating a full 3D model in moments from a couple of pics seems a way off. As does very precise lazer designation. Mind you lots of folk won't want that, not all the toys will be on the table, so that though usefull may be a none starter. |

You know, there's something to this. You're right. The usefulness of the app depends on the player's level of experience and their needs. It's all very individual. |

To be honest, I'm just a beginner, so I'm researching questions on theminiaturespage.com. My acquaintances analyze games on https://casinosanalyzer.com/online-casinos/pay-by-phone but I don't believe that it can be used for these tabletop games; maybe they're joking. I'm interested in the opinion of experts whether it's possible to evaluate something about historical games here, or is it absurd and this site is only for gambling games? Thank you. |

Gilbertlarsen, you need to look at a series iof wargames and do some sort of Time and motion study to see where you could speed things up. If that analysis is not productive then you are looking at Gimicks a bit like cards for wragames. they do nothing new, do not really add a facet or detail to the game, but seem to appeal on a novelty basis but that is going to be a finite appeal untill something new comes along. |

UshCha, Thank you for the advice regarding tricks and additional game elements! I agree that without adding new meaning or depth, they could become dry and uninteresting in gameplay. |

Gilbertlarsen worse than that it may slow a game down for no gain. |

I use QR codes that stream a short video for an example of play or pull up a pdf. You could put a QR code on the bottom of a building, vehicle, etc and when it is occupied the QR code would give a description of what is inside. Probably best for SiFi or D&D type games. You can use a small Bluetooth camera linked to your cell phone placed in front of the unit to determine LOS and spotting. Wolfhag |
