Hello all I have been all over the board looking at felt for a gaming mat. I have seen a lot of photos of Reets Relish in use, and it is great. Of course, it is the one not available publicly, and have to order direct for a $200 USD minimum order plus what I have heard heavy shipping. Ends up being 20 yards to hit minimum. Sorted out I have two options: There are some that are available through other sources at 72 wide. They have a different wool makeup (35 instead of 20%, and I havent seen any pictures of them in use on game tables, and sample images vary wildly. Moss in some photos looks like the dreaded green felt, and in others natural. Here are some links: Moss link Camo link Grassy link Has anyone used these colors? If so do you notice anything of the difference in wool content with painting or with figs catching? And if I may trouble you all, by chance any photos of them on an actual table? Thanks very much for any help. Worth a post since I hate to drop so much on a guess. |

I've bought Reets Relish 20% wool/80% rayon, in 36 inch width from Joanne Fabrics and Crafts. List price is not cheap at $10.99 USD/yd.; wait for sale or coupons which can cut the price in half. |

Thanks for the reply. But I would like to get the 72 double yard width. As an aside, I was quoted about the same price for the double width straight from NN as well. Double yardage retail for the other colors is around $22 USD/yard. While I am better off buying direct I am not sure what I am going to do with 60x6 feet of felt. I have yet to see what shipping is but Extra Crispy is in the states and said $100. USD it is $10 USD for the retail Camo and other colors. |

How about using canvas instead? Harbour Freight – Drop cloths 6 ft x 9 ft for USD9.99 – layer two sheets for a nice drape. Wash it a few times to loosen it up and then spray-paint with greens and browns. |

@DevoutDavout: I have some of the 6' wide Reet's Relish to spare. How many yards do you need? PM me or mark@scalecreep.com |

I'm with Stoppage. I like the process of making something. Maybe this summer I'll finally try my plan for twisting and tying cloth and soaking in water with bleach for a while to see how it comes out. And hydrogen peroxide to stop the bleach process. |
