Shock (well probably not): The fearsome T-Rex was not the toothy monster we picture in film and even science books. A new study says it actually had lips which covered its teeth, just like most modern animals and reptiles. The result is a much less terrifying appearance— though of course, the teeth don't go away just because you can't see them…

Have they settled if T Rex was a scavenger or predator?

Parz, if you argued for this before, you would have probably been laughed at. I remember the stegosaurus plate location controversy. Everyone believed they were right, until they weren't. Who knows today.

With archaeology it's always fact until it's not. 😉

Really interesting article, thanks for sharing. I think it's the short arms that make folks lean toward the scavenger role.

Old news Bob Bakker demonstrated this in "Dinosaur Heresies" back in 1986.

Now I have lips. If only my hands could reach up far enough to use my ChapStik.

Loose lips sink ships! Who knew T-Rex was to blame.

Now we know they were mad because they had no lip stick.

Using it's lips and tongue, T-Rex could probably make rude noises… ;-)
