I have old H&R US infantry but I want to geet some more. Two questions:

In 6mm, how different are the US infantry and paras (other than colour scheme)?

Do they (or anyone with compatible scale) do the M1919 bipod LMG, preferably prone but not essential? I'm assuming the .30 cal Browning is the tripod mount.

An stl would be fine too.

Cheers,
John

I think 2d6 wargaming do a standing US Para with the Browning LMG with bipod

As far as I know, 2D6 does not yet do any Americans at all. They do have Fallschirmjagers and some British Paras in their line.

They are on their front page at the moment:

In the infantry the .30 are prone but it is a tripod not a bipod.

To answer question one we thought they were different enough that when we did the new US figures we did infantry and paratroops, their uniform is different at 6mm.
In both the ols style us infantry and both the new style ones .30 crew are prone but the gun is on a tripod. I think you could either modify the stand if you want it on a bipod or use one LMG teams "modern" ranges which have M1 helmets like the West Germans. I will add a bipod .30 cal to our make list as we would only need the gun as the crew figures are separate from the gun so thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks very much for the responses. I think US Rangers in particular used the M1919 instead of the BAR, at least according to a TO&E I read.

John

Personally, I think that depends on whether you are a:
1) Looks good on the table from a couple feet away
2) Looks like a museum piece when examined up close

The older I get, and the shakier my painting hand gets, the more I am satisfied to be like #1.

I stand corrected, Whirlwind. When I checked the 2D6 line this morning, I did not see the American Airborne infantry and no American line so far even listed.

It will be interesting to see how far 2D6 goes with this new line. I am hoping for some regular American infantry especially an 81mm mortar and the M1917 and M1919 Browning MGs.

How do Heroics and Ros compare in size to 2d6?

How do Heroics and Ros compare in size to 2d6?

Here you go. No-one be judgy about the painting in these close-ups!

So I would say, 2d6 and Irregular are in the middle of the pack (but sort of work with everything), H&R are a little bit slighter, Baccus, GHQ, Adler and Scotia a little bigger.

The main pain is that H&R probably have the best range, but work least well with the bigger figures. You notice most when an Adler CO talks to an attached mortar battery, or when Scotia Polish infantry have to crew an H&R anti-tank gun

That is a very good comparison with pictures, Whirlwind. I did add a couple 2D6 Russians to my GHQ squad base. Overall, they fit in pretty well.

The 2D6 figures are the LMG gunner and the ammo bearer behind him.

Nice painting and photos! I know it is hard to get them to look nice that close up. And agreed with 2d6/GHQ good compatibility for figures.
