Today I did an, unusual, What a Tanker game using my Arab Israeli war variant rules (link in post).
It was quite fun and a good demo of the vagaries of dice!!!

Couple years ago was ready to pull the trigger on getting some tanks but passed and hasn't bitten me again .

I, too was edgy about going the 'Modern' route, until I found that most of the difficulties I had concerns about (Advanced ATGW's, composite/reactive armour etc) really only came to the fore after the 1973 war, which encouraged me to do the modified rules for it.
I actually enjoy it almost as much as the original WW2 version, and at last I got to use the old Airfix Centurion in a game!!!
