Divers have found the remnants of a stone road connecting an artificial island structure in the Mediterranean Sea. link Dated circa 4,900 BC! How's that for impressive ancestors? My speculation, based on no expertise at all: Possible defensive structure, purposefully isolated from the mainland to limit routes of attack? That had to have been a LOT of work, especially with Stone Age tools, so a highly motivated community effort would be necessary. Defense, religion, commerce are the only things I can think of which would produce such an undertaking (a genius one for all three— "Hey, I bet we could build our own island" is either genius or insane or both). |

The past continues to amaze. Almost every day, something is discovered that pushes history further back. |

Nice find. Is there anything aliens can't do? |

Apparently, they can't stop by during daylight in densely populated areas and just say "hello". They only show up at night, on desolate roads for the random kidnapping and probing. Or they run flummoxing capital outlay projects that no one understands. Hmmm, kind of reminds me of another group I've heard about. |

Another road before wheels. A defensive work is also my guess. |
