Rolled up a couple of crews and decided to take Coastal Patrol out for a spin using a scenario from Flotilla Forward. Action and review found here:

Enjoy

Joe,
Thanks for the review. This is one that I had not heard of in the past, but have now downloaded it to give it a look.

It looks like you are using your Cruel Seas boats with these rules. The local game store has marked their remaining ships down, and I've been wondering about buying some and using them with other rules. They are relatively large but do look nice.

Much more granular than Cruel Seas and actually accounts for the fact that these battles were for the most part fought at night.

I will be running a Coastal Patrol game at Historicon with Lard America on Thursday. I use a mixture of Cruel Seas ships and 3d prints.

Fitz, Good to talk with you again. I think you will like them. I am going to try to have the hull be hit twice as often as the bridge/superstructure/other to see if that evens things out. If you come up with something else e-mail me.

Grelber, yes I am. they are great models and the rules aren't terrible. My Crueler seas added spotting and increased critial hits. I just needed something else after my dad passed. You should get them! Pick me up 2 Japanese PT boats.

DeRuyter, yes CP is more granular than CS; about on par with Crueler Seas as discussed. What has been your experience with the frequency of ships sinking? What scenario are you running? Where do you get 3d ships? I need a Japanese type C barge as I just built my US PT boats.

Thanks

Joe

Most PT boats get crippled from gunfire before sinking. Unless they take multiple direct hits from a destroyer! I am running a scenario I was in during a Virtual Lard zoom game day. E boats attempting to run an escort blockade during D-day. (A Hunt class destroyer and some Farimiles).

DeRuyter, thanks for the link. That site mainly sells files; not ships. Am guessing you have a printer.
"Most PT boats get crippled from gunfire before sinking." Very much agree. I swear you have read my intro to Crueler Seas. : )
But sometimes they will succumb to those hits. I don't see that happening in CP but figure you have played more games than I. I still think it is a very good rule set.
Sounds like a great scenario.
Cheers
Joe
