Interesting article. I'm struck by a sudden urge to try my hand at model railroading, starting with the Royal Train. It would probably be almost impossible to get British engines and rolling stock here in the USA, though.

During the fuel crisis many years ago, somebody at the White House sat down and did the math and found it would cost more to ship the president to Florida via rail than sending him by rail, once you included all the staff and reporters who would travel with him.
