The Society of Daisy will hold OttoCon 2023 at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Carlisle, PA on Friday 16 June and Saturday 17 June.

Cost is $25 USD for the weekend or $15 USD for one day.

OttoCon is designed as a small convention for wargamers, kind of like a big game weekend at someone's house, except you don't have to sleep on the couch with the family pet. Last year we had around 60 gamers attend.

Every kind of game and gamer is welcome, miniatures, of course, but also board games and decision driven card games.

Last year we played that fun family favorite, Nuclear War. This year Junta is on the schedule. And Trailer Park Wars may make an appearance.

We have no vendors, but we do have a Bring and Buy table.

This year we are bringing back a fan favorite, Military Science Theater 2000. That's where we show a dog of a (semi) historical movie and hurl insults at it as only gamers can do.

If you are interested in running a game, want to know what games we've already got cooking, or want hotel information, please feel free to contact our Grand Poohbah, Tracy Johnson, at saxenviolets@gmail.com

May help if you post the games here to drive up interest.

@ARMY Strong, what we have so far:

Friday:
10AM Rourke's Drift in 25mm, TSATF, just like it says on the tin…

2PM Close Action in 1:1200 scale, a frigate action from Mark Campbell's newest scenario book "Free Trade and Sailor's Rights".

2PM Avanti Savoia! in 25mm, GAG Rules, Italians versus Mahdists. Based on a historical battle.

4PM Divine Right (the board game) Fantasy. Vying for control of the continent of Minaria.

Somewhere in there I'm also bringing the board game "Trailer Park Wars".

Saturday:
9AM: Close Action, same scale, this time a Fleet Action.

10AM: Civilization from Avalon Hill. Unlike Divine Right, the tribes and nations are historical…

10AM: Rourke's Drift (see above)

2PM: Italians versus Mahdists (Part II), but this time, it's a rescue mission.

6PM: Junta. "I am a river to my people!"

11PM: (or maybe earlier) Military Science Teater 2000

We have space for more games, just contact Tracy Johnson as per the original post.

And I can always switch out one of my Italians versus Mahdists games for something 18th century. I was thinking something with Wayne's Legion or the 1798 Irish Rebellion…

Hope that helps.

Sounds like lots of fun!

Wondering how the Bring & Buy Table works?

And what is the address of the hotel?

snurl117 May 2023 3:01 a.m. PST

I can't make it but I hope you all have fun.

@GamesPoet;
It's the Comfort Suites Hotel at 10 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.

Hope that helps.

If you go be sure to spend some time at the Army War College indoor and outdoor museum in Carlisle – it's excellent:
