This translation makes available for the first time his colourful memoirs. The recollections cover the capture of Malta and the dashing hussar's entry into Cairo as part of Napoleon's conquering army. From then, however, the Pole's adventures begin to unravel. He falls ill and is evacuated back to France. However, on the return voyage, he is captured by the Turks and held prisoners until his eventual release many months later…"
