If you could invite any living, qualified person to lecture at a wargame college-type program at a miniature wargaming convention, who would it be?

Depending on topic

Peter Jackson

or Scott Bowden

Stephen Zaloga is an excellent speaker who I have enjoyed at an IPMS national convention and would make an outstanding speaker at a wargaming convention.

Another, who has spoken at Historicon, is Col David Glantz.

Interesting choice of topic, Mr. Editor in Chief.

Some replies to those who have posted:

Col. Glantz spoke years ago at Historicon.

Steve Zaloga is a regular speaker at HMGS conventions, especially Fall In. His 150+ titles for Osprey are available at the Osprey web site.

I also recall Scott Bowden as a speaker and/or GM at a past HMGS convention.

IIRC, the Perry Brothers were guests of HMGS years ago, also at Historicon.

Victor Davis Hanson, Donald Kagan and Gen. Petraeus (who I have heard speak before) would also make my list.

I think Peter Jackson would have a great time at a wargaming convention. If he (or someone who knows him) sees this, please get in touch.

FYI, War College Speaker Submissions are open for Historicon 2023. Interested persons can inquire about the details at warcollege@historicon.org.

More to follow. Stay tuned.

Jim Dunnigan is also a favorite of mine. I heard him speak years ago at a weekend seminar in NYC on Wargaming sponsored by the New York Military Affairs Symposium ("NYMAS").

In addition to Mr. Dunnigan, Dr. Al Nofi, Dunnigan's co-author for several books, including "Victory at Sea: World War II in the Pacific" and the "Dirty Little Secrets" series, was one of the "SPI Guys" featured at Historicon 2018.
