I just bought the Epic P&S starter set. It seems exactly what I want to do with TYW; no painting needed and glue to bases and have fun. I am requesting help with the basing. It appears that the small square base is for mounted officers, the larger rectangular base is for both artillery sizes and the long rectangular basis are for everything else. Also, the long bases seem to be for the block infantry and also for individual dismounted dragoons as well as mass cavalry and mounted dragoons. I was hoping someone with experience in the Epic products could confirm my understanding ( or educate me, as needed). Thank you!

Sounds right. I think the peg and hole system makes it difficult to do anything other than they intended. The Warlord site also has a lot of pictures.

Certainly. You cab cut off the pegs, cut up the stands, or do both, but that doesn't answer the question.

At first I thought it was simple peg-in-hole obvious for everything. Then I noticed there were individual musketeers that had no pegs. And in supplied pictures, the foot dragoons and commanded shotte are spaced apart, like skirmishers. So I am guessing they are just glued as desired, no pegs-in-holes, ignoring the holes in the bases. I cannot confirm this through pictures or discussion on Warlord Games' site, though, so I decided to ask the group I normally go to, TMP. Thank you.

Ah, I wrongly assumed that everything had pegs like the ACW box. My apologies.

Really, there is no painting needed? I thought they were just plastic and you then have to paint them in whatever uniforms you wished?

There is a certain class of gamer who thinks unpainted figures are OK.

mghFond and all, The Epic Pike & Shotte figs are generic figures of the period (TYW & ECW generally). There are 2 different armies which are the same figs molded in 2 different colors, tan and gray. According to Warlord Games, this was done as with the ACW and Nap games to enable people to jump right into playing without having to await the painting of the figs needed. Only the starter game has the 2 different color armies. As for me, I do not intend to play the game but merely set up battles on my soldier table as I do with my other painted 28's and my spray-painted Travel Battle figs. I am 72 years old and the time it takes to paint figs limits my fun. Hence, I am happy how Warlord is handling Epic P&S the way it is. Also, I am wondering what the next period will be. (Ancients: Rome vs Carthage?)

I'm 73 and I can paint EPIC figures quite well.

Jim, BTW, the painted figs look good. I like the variety.
