"An alternate attack on the US Embassy, Tet 68" Topic

I thought this worth a new topic, as it might be overlooked in the original and I think it is well worth a read.

I asked Ged how the game turned out, having been so impressed by the photos from Salute. The answer is very different to 1968;

Started with a knowledge of the original attack. What not to do,
VC split into two sections, Taxi Section and TuK Tuk Section.
Both drove straight at the main gate guarded by 2 American MPs.
Taxis were halted by M16 fire, lead Tuk Tuk was disabled.
Taxi vc drove through the gate, killed both MPs.
Tuk Tuk section disembarked and followed the leader into the admin block.
Taxi section parked on the rear lawn, dismounted, blew a hole with a satchel charge in the back of the embassy and went in.
Fighting in the admin block between vc and colonel.
Reinforcements turn up for US, two South Vietnamese MPs in a jeep.
No further reinforcements for US as failed radio requests repeatedly.
Close fighting in embassy between CIA security unit and vc, satchel charges used to force US back to first floor stairwell.
Colonel killed in admin block. South Vietnamese MPs killed in embassy.
US Marine security squad run across car park, shot up by vc in admin block.
US Marine squad decimated, break and run back to cover.
VC kill all US in embassy, uncontested building so VC win.

So there we are. Some how I doubt those VC will have too much time to celebrate in the Embassy bar.

The VC only needed to touch the Embassy they didn't need to keep it.

As I thought. This looks like the VC break in to the main building. I hope we will see more images in a larger format

Good point about the desire to hold the embassy. Look what they did achieve, in propaganda terms, without even succeeding in getting in!

just a note to say we are working on a set of rules
..they are almost done..they had there first outing
during the playing of the Game
