Ukraine have blown up a bridge close to Melitopol and a railway line close to the Kertj bridge.

Due to the offensive Russia is using huge amounts of materiel. With railway lines destroyed Russia will have trouble getting munitions to the front. No one can fight without munitions.

"Professionals discuss logistics". Increasing Ukrainians pressure, less Russian reinforcements and what arrives to the front have even less ammo. that is not how to win a war…

Really wouldn't want to be anywhere near the front line in a tank that doesn't have APS. I don't understand why Trophy wasn't retro-fitted to the western supplied tanks before delivery. Its been saving Israeli armour since 2010 (ish).

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP22 Jun 2023 7:22 a.m. PST

Very true … For that matter I don't know why it is not retrofitted on all of our MBTs, etc. There must be a reason ? I hope it's not $ … ?

Well by taking out that bridge, it will make it harder for Russia to resupply and reinforce.

It is easier to supply smaller forces, i.e. less mouths to feed, less MBTs to fuel, arm, maintain, etc. Plus shorter LOC/supply lines also makes resupply easier.

Struck that one thing games tend not simulate is the complete break down of operation communication to the point where friendly fire incidents happen.

Seems all of the Russian troops including "elite" are marginal at best or even worse. Their best troops were Wagner Mercs, and they probably will not be available any longer.

where friendly fire incidents happen.
That is generally limited but still occur. Generally when we use rules for Indirect and/or CAS. We use Burst/Blast Templates. You have to roll to see if the target is hit … if not you roll for scatter. Direction & distance … sometimes it ends up hitting your own troops instead.

No M1s yet ? This is really embarrassing … But again IMO the US is spoon feeding the lethal support that is needed to get the invaders out of their nation. That should have started to be delivered as Putin's forces were assembling on the border. 500 + days ago now.

wardog16 Jul 2023 1:35 p.m. PST

legion4 +1
dragged their feet on the leopards (didn't need them at that time according to our experts)even as ukraine was begging for them so they could start their offensive earlier
that delay allowed the russians to build strong fortifications and lay large minefields ,which now makes the offensive slow going

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP16 Jul 2023 4:21 p.m. PST

Yes, now with the Ukraine lacking key weapons systems and numbers. They now have to breach minefields, dug-in deep, fortified trench lines, etc.

IMO opinion the US should have led the way with sending everything needed to defeat the Russians months ago or longer. But the US leadership was weak, feckless, confused, timid, etc. Fearing Putin would escalate and be upset with the US.

The US is reacting to Putin, not the other way around. Strong leaders and their staff in crisis know how to make things happened. If nothing else the A'stan debacle showed that the US leaders didn't have the right stuff. And Putin saw the weak, etc., US leadership then decided to invade the Ukraine.

Because of this timidity, etc., more will die, and more infrastructure leveled.
